In both cases, read up on the Novapuls archives, which have a lot of info and plot hooks for either location (though more on Berlin, I think). Good sources on Berlin are the 4E book, the 6E book, the 5E ADL book, and the Datapuls Berlin PDF. I'll note that I despised the Berlin setting until 4th, when Andreas Schroth took over and carefully rewrote, annotated and redirected it into something actually awesome. PErsonally I think it is the more interesting settinmg, but given it's also my IRL hometown I'm probably biased. Berlin is a hodgepodge of enclaves of Russians, Poles, Anarchists, Nazis, Green radicals, Neo-Communist Hippies, Islamic radicals, militant Christians, Corps, Corp Haters, and everything in between. Try and get ahold of the 5E Hamburg book because ti is damn good and has an incredibly detailed map of that slum.īerlin is a special setting, it is more of a microcosm of several settings set in Germany's least un-diverse city.
It has more of a toxic magic focus, is decaying and half flooded and overall fairly depressing, with a giant makeshift floating slum for migrants making up an entire city district (like the ork underground, just as a collection of pontons). Hamburg is most seattle-like - an independence-minded port city where every mega is present but none have an hq.
